Actress, Susan Heyward, inspires students at Asbury Park High School (Local)
Susan Heyward ,who currently stars in the play, "My Wonderful Day", a hilarious comedy at Two River Theater, went to the Asbury Park High School this past week to talk with theatrical students. She talked about the importance of following your instincts and doing your homework, no matter what your field or chosen career might be, "because when you're called you must be prepared".
Heyward starred in the Pulitizer Prize winning playwright, Lynn Nottage's play Ruined and many other theatrical and television pieces.
She currently stars in the Alan Ackybourn's, My Wonderful Day, as Winnie. In My Wonderful Day, looks at the adult world-with all of its foibles, and failed hopes and dreams-through the eyes of a child. Winnie Barnstairs, a nearly nine-year old Anglo-Caribbean girl from south London, has a school assignment to write about her day. She is spending it with her mother, a house cleaner who works for a minor television celebrity. Instructed to get on with her homework, Winnie observes and records everything happening around her-even as the day turns into an increasingly frenetic domestic farce of marital infidelity, volcanic egos, and comic misunderstandings.
The play continues at the Two River Theater until June 3.
