Performers & Speakers Announced For Whitney Houston’s Funeral; Will Live Stream
Performers and speakers have been announced for Whitney Houston's funeral that will take place this Saturday.
The funeral is by invitation only and will be held at the New Hope Baptist church in Newark, NJ - The very same church where Whitney got her start as a singer. Though the funeral will not be a public memorial, fans will be able to watch via livestream on the internet. The funeral will also broadcast on NY's 98.7 Kiss FM.
Whitney Houston's God mother, Aretha Franklin, will sing at the funeral on Saturday. Stevie Wonder, R. Kelly, Alicia Keys, & Donnie McClurkin plan to perform as well.
Houston’s cousin Dionne Warwick is scheduled to speak at the ceremony, as are filmmaker Tyler Perry, Houston’s music-industry mentor Clive Davis and Houston’s sister-in-law and manager Patricia Houston. Whitney will be eulogized by gospel-recording artist Marvin Winans; Rev. Jessie Jackson is also invited.
Kevin Costner, who is known for his starring role in "The Bodyguard" with Houston, will also speak. Respectfully, NJ Govenor Christie will order all state buildings to fly flags at half-staff on Saturday. This will be a sad day in hip-pop history!
