
According to TMZ, Dwight Meyrs known as Heavy D, died from a pulmonary embolism caused by deep leg vein thrombosis.
Officials also stated Heavy D suffered from heart disease which could have also been a contributing factor to his death.
A pulmonary embolism is a blockage of one or more arteries in the lungs. It is most often caused by blood clots which travel in from other parts of he body. In Heavy D’s case, the clot was formed in his legs.
In the 90s, Heavy D was one of the most influential rappers in hip-hop having massive hits including “Now That We Found Love.” He also wrote and performed the theme song for “In Living Color” and appeared as an actor in the movie “Life.
