
Asbury Park, NJ – A beloved Asbury Park Football coach and teacher, was killed Sunday when he was hit by a car on the Garden State Parkway in Wall Township, after getting out his car to check on occupants of the other car he crashed with.
Key left his car, a black Chevrolet, crossing all four lanes of traffic, to check on the occupants of the other vehicle, a white Honda.
On the way back to his car, Key was struck by a blue Mercedes Benz, police said.
According to the Asbury Park Press, John Key, 37 a resident of Long Branch was a teacher in the Asbury Park schools since 2009. He joined the coaching staff in June before previously coaching at Monmouth Regional High School and Ocean Township High School.
