Family and Friends Get Closure After Body of Naisere Nelson Found in Avon, NJ + Tribute Song

Avon, NJ - The body of a missing Neptune, NJ teenager was found yesterday under the Ocean Avenue bridge in Avon, NJ. 15-year-old Naisere Nelson disappeared after being pulled away from strong rip tides while swimming in Bradley Beach, NJ last week.

Bradley Beach Police Chief Leonard Guida said a family friend, who is also a police officer, identified the body of Naisere Nelson. Guida said an official identification and the exact cause of death would follow an autopsy scheduled for today. The Ocean Avenue Bridge is about 1 1/2 miles south of the beach where Nelson was swept out to sea, according to an Associated Press report.

According to APP.com, Nelson was swimming in the ocean when he became caught in a rip current along with two other people. Victor Pierez, 27, and Stephanie Crespo, 28, both of Elizabeth, reached the shore but Nelson didn’t.

After noticing Nelson was in trouble, a call was made for his rescue. Within minutes, at least 75 ANSWER team members, emergency personnel, from Bradley Beach, Neptune, and Avon responded. The search was called off when a storm hit. After the storm ended, the search continued until 2 p.m. the next day, but Nelson wasn’t found.

The story made national headlines with family, friends, and those who didn’t know the young man going on facebook expressing sorrow, love, and the safe return of Nelson.

The Neptune Township High School sophomore, an avid football player since age 7, was a running back and cornerback on the junior varsity football team during his freshman and sophomore years at Neptune High school.

Surviving are his beloved mother, Alfreda Holsey; his father, Nairobi Nelson; his stepfather, John Holsey; his sisters, Darya Smith, Naiarya Nelson, Nailah Nelson, and Johna-Jai Holsey; a stepbrother, Bryan Jon-Martin; his grandparents, Robert and Curlie Jackson; his uncles, Rahsheen Nelson and Teddy Riley; and his aunts, Rafia Jackson and Roxanna Mello. Also left to cherish his memory is Shayna Meggs, his “wifey.”
