So today I started a new job with a large financial institution that is growing and has done really well in recent years. I’m extremely honored for the opportunity they have given me to become an asset to the organization. I studied finance and accounting in college and completed several solid internships. Following graduation I worked as a financial analyst at relief and reform nonprofit organization doing a lot of corporate accounting. It was a great organization and I had genuine coworkers, but my heart has always been in empowering people at the local level. Now I am with an organization where I can apply my education, work experience, and interpersonal skills to my job and ultimately have the opportunity for longevity.

I believe it is very important to have a strong interest in the work that you do, or you will probably feel that you are at your job for just a paycheck. That is no fun.You should be able to bring enthusiasm and excitement to your job everyday. Even a garbage man can enjoy his job. He or she may enjoy conversation with an individual every morning in passing. They may be committed to keeping a neighborhood sanitized and get fulfillment from keeping trash out the streets. Regardless of any work yo do, you should have a sincere passion in it. The results are usually positive. There is a direct correlation between attitude, work environment, productivity, and results.

If you happened to have a job that you just can’t possibly take, but need to remain there to make a living. Here are a couple of recommendations:

* Seek new responsibilities in your organization.
* Assess your personal life to see how it affects your career.
* Volunteer or do something outside of work that can of offset and relieve tension from your job.

Essentially, the best way to improve your situation within your career is to determine what it is that you want to do, and how can you get there.
