New Jersey - After the recent murder of Lakewood Police officer, Christopher Matlosz, who was making a routine stop on a Lakewood street when he was murdered, questions begin to arise whether New Jersey should bring back the penalty. New Jersey abolished the death penalty in 2007, stating the abolishment of this form of punishment would save the state a lot of money. Gov. Corzine also credited the decline in violent crimes. In 2008 and 2009, violent crimes and murders decline each year. However, in light of the recent murder, and the problems major cities face with violent crimes, should New Jersey bring back the death penalty and enforce harsher laws involving violent crimes?
