Yesterday, a concerned mother stood in front of Neptune Township, NJ school board hopefuls to tell them don’t cut programs.

Karen Edmonds, a mother of five children, said after school and summer program are what’s needed to keep the districts youth out of trouble.

But will they listen?

According the Asbury Park Press,
Edmonds stated

“The last day of spring break we heard gunshots in our neighborhood,” Edmond said. No one was seriously hurt, but we need to find something for these kids to do. How can we bring more family-fun, free activities to our community and how can we help?”

The four are aiming for three three-year terms on the board Tuesday. They are incumbents John E. Daniels Sr., 47, of 16 Cornell Ave., the board president; Jason A. Jones, 29, of 23 Brookside Road, who has twice served as the Negotiations Committee chair; and newcomers Jennifer Latshaw, 38, of Fairfield Way, the former Shark River Hill PTO president; and Denis McCarthy, 58, of 79 Broadway, vice president of the Ocean Grove Homeowners Association.
