From the creators of the hit HBO show, The Wire, comes Treme. Forget about the spiral of African-American reality TV shows that has recently surfaced, Treme might be the best new show on television.
Treme, a neighborhood in the city of New Orleans, looks into the lives of an array of people three months after the devastating Hurricane Katrina. Characters include musicians, a restaurant owner, an irate professor, and a meager disk jockey.
The series looks into how New Orleans citizens live through the whims of the city and diminished infrastructure. Characters have to deal with water shortages, inhabitable broken houses, and trouble finding work because of the poor economy after the storm.
If you’re not only looking for entertainment, but a learning experience, every Sunday night at 10pm on HBO is where you need to be. The series premiered on April 11, 2010 and is already set for another season.
