Blacks In History — By Unheard Voices on February 11, 2010 at 7:29 pmToday marks the 20th anniversary of former South African president, Nelson Mandela, release from prison. On Thursday, South Africans celebrated the steps and the man that helped kill apartheid.
Thousands of people gathered near Cape Town, known as Victor Vester, the last prison Mandela was held. Crowds surrounded by the statue, built in 2008, showing Mandela’s first steps as a free man.
